Jura coffee machine common problems (And how to solve them)

Jura coffee machine not grinding beans

This is one of the most common issues encountered with Jura machines. However, there is nothing to worry about it. It can happen if you use flavored or oily beans, which can get stuck in the hopper. In such cases, you should rotate the grinder by hand against resistance. Once you do that, try running the grinder, and it should be fine. If it doesn’t work, try changing the grinder setting while spinning. This trick should make solve the issue of grinding beans. Do check the milk system required by your Jura machine.

jura coffee machine common problems with brewers

Jura coffee machine is not grinding beans and displaying the message – “Fill beans.”

If you face this issue, try the above mentioned trick and check if it works. If it doesn’t work, it will probably be an issue with the blockage in the grinder outlet. Depending on the model and make of your Jura device, you can lift the powder chute and see a rectangular structure present below. This causes blocking, so use any brush or similar structure that can bend and clean it thoroughly. The other way is to remove the top burr of the grinder and clean it thoroughly.

There is a point at the bottom of the chute to add ground coffee, which may get clogged, especially if water is present. For some models, the access is present from the bottom of the device – remove the bottom tray and reach inside through it. If you go behind this area, there is a silver-colored area you need to access and clean dry using a good, dried cloth. Once you are done, you can use a hair dryer from the top and leave it overnight.

How to avoid this issue?

As mentioned earlier, this is caused by using oily beans or a grinder being set to fine coarse. Sometimes, certain beans do not move freely through the grinder and get stuck inside. Using oily beans is a good thing; the problem with them is they do not fall easily and get stuck in the grinder. To resolve this issue, it is suggested that you take beans first in your hand and then roll them in the grinder. So, if they are oily and moist, they should get stuck to your hand and not fall in the grinder. You can keep them aside for some time and then use them.

To ensure it does not get repeated, use the lighter and dried beans for some time. This may ensure that the issue doesn’t get extended further and might not cause the residue to get stuck.

Jura coffee machine no coffee coming out

This is one of the most common issues among the Jura machines. Whenever your Jura cannot dispense coffee slowly or is being dispensed only out of one spout, it could be the issue with the spout getting clogged. When you use a coffee machine regularly, the coffee remains deposited on the spout, thus, causing this issue. This is the reason why we suggest performing the cleaning cycles regularly. It would help if you descaled the machine, using the descaling tablets. The guide for cleaning can be found here. If descaling doesn’t work, you must manually remove and clean the spout. This happens in case the deposition is significant. If that doesn’t fix it, you must replace the spout completely.

If none of the above things gets your machine working, there could be internal deposition. Don’t be surprised; this can happen even if you use your machine occasionally, like 1-2 times a month. The thing is, the brewer is unable to inform you about the water that is sitting inside! The water that doesn’t get utilized or drained remains in the tank. Since there is air present, this water starts getting vaporized, and since there is no way to use this water, the remains from previous brews get picked up and get redeposited elsewhere. So, in such cases, it is advisable to call the Jura customer care team and let them find the deposition.

How to avoid this?

As mentioned earlier, it is necessary to perform cleaning cycles regularly using cleaning tablets. Even if you have used a machine for getting 2-3 brews in the last couple of months, you should perform descaling. This will ensure the device remains top-notch and doesn’t get clogged.

Jura coffee machine won’t turn on (And how to fix it).

Is your jura coffee machine not turning on? try these steps to fix

Start with the basics – Power outlet.

The first thing you should do is check the power outlet. Sometimes, this could be an issue with the power outlet, so try running another device with the same outlet and verify if it works. If it doesn’t work, you should use another power outlet to power your Jura machine. Once you have verified the power outlet is working fine and are still unable to turn on the device, it could be an issue with the fuse or PCB of your machine.

Check the fuse

Most of the Jura machines have fuses included onboard. To access it, you will have to use the screwdrivers and open the panel of your device. Once inside, you will usually find the fuse soldered on the board. Check out if the fuse is intact and shows no sign of burns or damage. Moreover, clean the device’s internals using a dry cloth and assemble it back. Leave it aside overnight and try around the following day. It should be fixed if the dust or moisture is causing loose contacts or connectivity issues. Once you confirm that the fuse is intact and that leaving it intact isn’t working, it could be due to a possible problem with PCB.

Check the PCB

If you are still facing problems, it could be due to the power supply board or the PSU. PSU is the device responsible for providing the voltage to all the components in the machine. These parts do all the hard work and are delicate, hence more prone to failure. If there was an accidental water drop or the internals got misted due to abnormal room temperatures, then simple cleaning can fix that issue. As mentioned earlier, leave the machine overnight and give it a shot the next day. It should work if all the components are intact and no breakdown has occurred.

Despite trying everything and being unable to turn on the Jura coffee machine, we suggest you contact Jura customer care. They can resolve the issue for you. Jura offers a two-year warranty and a free pickup and drops facility for repairs in the United States or whichever country you purchased your product from. Please feel free to comment if there is anything else you need to know or have any questions, and we will get back to you.
